Annual School of Microbiology Research Day

Boole 3 was the venue for this year's Research Day where attendees enjoyed a full programme of talks and presentations of posters.

Annual Research Day is a great occasion to celebrate the diversity and research excellence of the postgraduate cohort and showcase the contributions that they make to the School of Microbiology.

Perhaps the most important aspect of the day is that it brings both postgraduate students and staff together in one space and gives our students an opportunity and platform to showcase their research excellence to both their peers and the wider School of Microbiology community. Students are typically spread out across different laboratories and buildings so in bringing students and staff together the day has an important social and networking component.

This event was supported by the School’s Graduate Studies Committee in partnership with the Postgraduate Committee and The Micro.SCRUM Research Forum with Dr Pauline Scanlan at the helm of organising what is one of the highlights of the School of Microbiology’s calendar.

Head of School of Microbiology, Dr David Clarke presented Kelsey White with the Gerald Fitzgerald Research Award 2023 for her paper entitled 'A multifaceted investigation of lactococcal strain diversity in undefined mesophilic starter cultures’.
